July Sees 28.8% Increase in Arab Stock Trading Volume Amid Value Drop

by admin477351

July witnessed a notable surge in trading activity across Arab stock markets, marked by a 28.82% increase in the volume of shares traded from the previous month. The total trading volume rose to 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion in June. This uptick was primarily fueled by heightened activity on the Iraq Stock Exchange, with Egypt also contributing significantly to the increase. Despite this boost in trading volume, the overall value of transactions saw a downturn.

In July, the value of transactions in Arab stock markets fell by 16.82%, amounting to $90.24 billion compared to $108.48 billion recorded in June. This decline was observed in several key markets, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait. Such a trend underscores the complex dynamics in the region’s financial markets, where increased trading volume did not translate into higher transaction values.

The performance of regional stock markets presented a mixed picture during the month. Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out as a top performer, registering a gain of 5.85%. Meanwhile, other exchanges in the region also reported gains, although the overall performance varied across different markets.

Despite these fluctuations, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively steady. It experienced a slight increase of 0.06%, bringing the total to approximately $4.31 trillion. This stability in market capitalization reflects the resilience of the region’s stock markets amid varying trading activities and transaction values.

The figures from July highlight a dynamic period for Arab equity markets, characterized by increased trading activity despite a decline in the value of transactions and mixed performances across major exchanges. These developments illustrate the ongoing shifts and challenges within the region’s financial landscape.
