King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH) played a significant role in clinical research across Saudi Arabia, spearheading 48% of all registered clinical trials in the first half of 2025. This achievement underscores the hospital’s expanding influence in the realm of advanced healthcare and clinical studies. The hospital’s robust research efforts are driven by a dedicated team consisting of investigators, research nurses, pharmacists, coordinators, data specialists, as well as regulatory and ethics experts. These professionals collectively contribute to every phase of clinical trials, from initial scientific planning to patient recruitment, execution, safety oversight, and data management.

Established in 2020, KFSH’s centralized Clinical Trials service has become a cornerstone of the hospital’s research strategy, facilitating studies conducted by its clinician-investigators. This service is critical, ensuring that aspects such as feasibility assessments, patient recruitment, investigational medications, data integrity, and safety and ethical compliance are meticulously managed. In the first six months of 2025 alone, KFSH maintained 104 active clinical trials and initiated 80 new studies, covering a diverse range of medical disciplines including oncology, cardiovascular health, autoimmune disorders, and endocrine issues. These studies not only provide patients with severe conditions access to new treatment possibilities but also contribute significant clinical insights aligned with Saudi Arabia’s healthcare priorities.

Among KFSH’s innovative research initiatives is a groundbreaking Phase I clinical trial involving locally manufactured genetically engineered CAR-T cells for patients with relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This trial exemplifies the integration of local scientific expertise, cutting-edge biomanufacturing, and specialized clinical care, all channeled into a coherent research pathway.

Beyond its national contributions, KFSH’s clinical-trial infrastructure supports participation in complex international research collaborations. This is facilitated by its strong governance and specialized clinical capabilities, which ensure adherence to the highest standards of patient safety, ethics, data quality, and regulatory compliance. The hospital is poised to showcase its clinical research strategies and innovative healthcare approaches at the C3 US NYC Davos of Healthcare Summit 2026 in New York City on September 14.

Globally, KFSH has earned a reputation as one of the leading academic medical centers, both in the Middle East and internationally. The hospital’s prominence is further bolstered by its recognition in healthcare rankings and its well-regarded healthcare brand. Located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, KFSH continues to make strides in advancing medical research and healthcare delivery on a global stage.
